Who We Are
We are The Red Barons, a FIRST Robotics team located in Erie, Pennsylvania. We are made up of 30-40 students from McDowell High School and Fairview High School.
What We Do
The Red Barons purpose is to promote technology and science to school students and introduce them to the science of robotics. We participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition. In this competition we receive the competition goals and rules at the beginning of January. We have 6 weeks to build a robot that will meet the rules and accomplish the goals. However, there is a lot more to robotics than just the robot. There is the Chairman’s award, given to the team that represents the values of FIRST the best, especially “gracious professionalism”. There are also awards for the website, innovation, safety, business, and just being helpful and nice to other teams at the competition.
